Divine Word College of Legazpi (DWCL) is a private, Catholic school in
Legazpi, Albay. The school can trace its roots from an exclusive Caceres school for boys, the
Liceo de Albay (LDA). After being affected by the Typhoon Trix in 1952, the management of the LDA was turned over to priests of the
Society of the Divine Word (SVD). The school eventually became co-educational, offered pre-school and grade school programs, and even opened a Night School for working students. It also earned its college status in 1965, providing Libera Arts, Commerce, Education, and Secretarial courses.
At present, the Divine Word College of Legazpi offers the K-12 basic education program and higher education programs. The college department is divided into six academic units or "schools", namely
Arts and Sciences, Education, Nursing, Hospitality Management, Engineering & Computer Studies, and
Business Management & Accountancy. The Senior High School department, on the other hand, provides the
Academic and the
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) tracks, particularly the
ABM, GAS, STEM, HE, and
ICT strands. DWCL also offers
TVET courses in the field of Hotel Management and
certificate programs in the field of Teacher Education.
