Keys School Manila (KSM) was first known as Keys Grade School when it was founded in 2006 by seven committed educators who wanted to continue and expand the progressive education initiated by Explorations Preschool. The vision was to create a school where children learn-by-doing and reflecting, curriculum was inquiry-based, the learning environment valued each child’s unique developmental journey, and learning contributes to social change.

Keys Grade School was renamed Keys School Manila in 2013 to accommodate its expansion plan of providing a complete K-12 program. KSM is continuously adding classroom space, providing continuous professional development for our teachers, and implementing current, effective teaching practices aligned with our beliefs about how children learn best.

In its first year, Keys opened its doors to 16 students. At present, KSM has hundreds of students and this is evidence that the school delivers on its promise to provide a solid educational program where learning is active, collaborative, and relevant. KSM advocates reaching out to educators and spreading reseach-based and effective teaching practices. Referred to as an exemplar of progressive education and the Bank Street approach by teacher education institutions, graduate and undergraduate students from universities such as De La Salle Univeristy, University of Asia and the Pacific, University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, Silliman University, are welcomed to observe or work and gain teaching experience as part of their practicum.
