Want to update information about this school? Click here.
The Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) started as a provincial high school then named as Baybay Provincial High School. It was the first public secondary school established along the shoreline of the Laguna de Bay, and the second in the whole province. It was then converted in 1957 into the Baybay National Agricultural and Vocational School (BNAVS), which was the main center for American Peace Corps Volunteer in rice production at the time.

In 1969, the school also became the pilot center for the two-year Agricultural Technician Curriculum with an Associate degree in Agriculture. It gained College status through Republic Act no. 6321 in 1971 and was renamed to the Baybay National College of Agriculture and Technology (BNCAT), and again later renamed into Laguna State Polytechnic College in 1986.  It received full university status in 1999 through accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and integration of several other state colleges in the area.
