What does Lyceum of the Philippines University - Manila (LPU) stand for?

Lyceum of the Philippines (LPU) is a system of schools throughout the Philippines with its main campus in Manila. Its branches are found in Makati (LPU School of Law), Batangas, Laguna, and Cavite.vIt was founded in 1952 by former President Dr. Jose P. Laurel. Today, his son, Dr. Peter P. Laurel, heads the Batangas and Laguna campuses. On the other hand, Atty. Roberto P. Laurel, Sotero’s eldest, oversees the Manila, Makati, and the recently built Cavite campuses.

LPU offers a wide array of courses in its 6 colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Technology, International Relations, International Tourism and Hospitality Management, and Law. It also has a Graduate School and Senior High School department. It also offers short-courses accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Bartending, Cookery, Events Management, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, and Tourism Promotion Services. 

Graduates from the Lyceum of the Philippines University system benefit from a long-standing tradition of excellence and live the legacy of upholding national morale and character. According to the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), LPU Manila is one of the top 20 universities in the country.

  • Liberal Arts and Science programs are granted Level 3 Reaccredited Status by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA)
  • LPU is partners with Dusit Thani College, the University of Hertfordshire, Cheng Shiu University, and Gyeongju University
  • The Hall of Heroes, more commonly known as Mabini Hall, displays historical Philippine figures sculpted by National Artists, Guillermo Tolentino
