Western Philippines University (WPU) is a state university in
Palawan that started in 1910 as the Aborlan Farm Settlement School for the Tagbanuas, an indigenous cultural community ìn Palawan. WPU has 8 campuses situated at the municipalities of
El Nido, Puerto Princesa, Busuanga, Culion, Quezon, Rio Tuba. and in
Aborlan (main campus) which are all situated all over the island of Palawan.
The main campus has a roster of undergraduate and graduate programs in the fields of
Agriculture, Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Teacher Education, Criminal Justice Education, Business Management, Environmental Management, and
Fisheries. Also, most of the main campus' Agriculture and Engineering undergraduate programs have
Level II and Level III accreditations, while its graduate programs in
Rural Development and
Extension System Management have candidate statuses.
